They sat on the porch watching the rain fall. The last time this happened, they had to say goodbye. It almost seemed that someone hit pause when he was just about to leave (The last four years were a blur) and now, they could hit play again.
Assuming conversation would be rusty she started with the obvious.
“It’s raining.”
“Yup,” he responded.
She looked up at the table and smiled. They spent 8 years creating lifetimes with only the coffee in between them.
“This is nice, sitting in the rain without getting wet.”
He nodded and continued to enjoy the patter. They both struggled to say what they felt but she took a leap of faith.
“I missed you.”
“Me too,” he said with a smile.
“So what do you want to do today?”
“We are doing it,” he said.
